Except for certified “green” buildings, where it is one of the requirements for certification, full-scale, integrated commissioning of new buildings is still rare, despite Department of Energy studies that show commissioning substantially reduces energy costs. In an era in which energy prices are unstable and when the increasing complexity of building systems makes reliability a paramount concern, ensuring your building systems perform as desired is paramount.
The key to controlling energy usage and ensuring reliability has to do with the optimal interaction of systems — including mechanical, process, and electrical systems integration. Evaluations of manufacturer’s individual pieces of installed equipment aren’t sufficient – a total systems evaluation is required in order to ensure the entire building performs as a whole.
The key to successful commissioning lies with a well managed and organized project team, each fully compliant in the policies, procedures and safe work practices. We are unlike many commissioning services firms in that our commissioning specialists are practicing engineers, typically designing the systems to be commissioned.
