Austin AECOM was the Design-Builder for this recently completed 270,000-sq-ft noodle soup manufacturing, distribution and corporate office facility in Rancho Cucamongo, California. Included are three large noodle process lines, automated packaging, separate soup process, pneumatic flour conveying system, steam system two 700 HP boilers, palm oil system, large wastewater sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system, compressed air systems, material handling and 80,000-sq-ft of current good manufacturing process (cGMP) warehouse which included freezer and cold storage.
All process piping was 2-inch sanitary tube 316L stainless steel orbitally welded and passivated to comply with current GMPs.
As design-builder, Austin AECOM also acted as the general contractor and MEP process designers for this project, assisted owner with closing of property, constructability issues and all aspects of coordination with this newly developed 13-acre site, the first U.S. facility for Nong Shim.
Critical systems included purified water (RO) and Clean In Place (CIP).
Project challenges included a one-year construction period with time lost to more than six weeks of high wind and record rain fall; location on a greenfield site; and stringent manufacturing process evaluation by California’s permit and environmental agencies.
