Danisco

Danisco develops and manufactures complex functional ingredients for the food industry. The product line ranges from emulsifiers and stabilizers to enzymes and antioxidants. They are used in a wide variety of dairy, meat, confectionery, beverage and bakery products.
Using the client’s process technology for high-temperature interesterification of glycerin, fats and oils, Austin AECOM’s Process engineers provided complete design, engineering and construction services to Danisco’s Olathe, Kansas, facility to reorganize production and increase output of Dimodan, a distilled monoglyceride. The project included a raw material tank farm and flammable-liquid storage building, 304 stainless steel product piping with steam tracing and jacketing, and over 600 process instruments.
In another project for this client, Austin AECOM provided architectural and engineering services to prepare a Master Plan to add Spray "C" and Dry Blending capacity for increased production at its New Century, Kansas, site. The scope of services included:
- Demolition of existing warehouse
- Design of four-story spray drying facility
- Expansion of liquid, intermediate tank storage, raw material storage and maintenance areas
- Addition of bulk storage, tube chiller and refrigeration facilities.
For the addition of the Spray "C" and Dry Blending project, Austin AECOM provided Preliminary Engineering, Construction Documents and Shop Drawings to install three 70,000-pound capacity tanks, totally jacketed and insulated for outdoor service and a spray tower. The project included a CIP system.
