DMJM H&N/Austin AECOM in joint venture with Faithful & Gould, provided construction management services for a nationwide indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract supporting projects, on an as-needed basis, within all eleven GSA regions and the GSA headquarters. Construction management of the new FBI field office in Chicago is one task under this contract.
Austin AECOM served as the design and construction quality manager for the base building and fit-out of a new FBI field office and facilities within the Illinois Medical District. The new, ten-story building includes 400,000-sq-ft of rentable office space, an automotive maintenance facility annex, and a parking structure to accommodate 750 secured parking spaces. The facility was constructed as a development team design-build-leaseback.
The facility is designed to meet the criteria of GSA Progressive Collapse Analysis and Design Guidelines for New Federal Office Buildings and Major Expansion Projects 2003, including prevention of progressive collapse, 100-foot setback, and the latest criteria for blast resistance for the exterior wall and window systems. The facility includes sensitive compartmented information facilities (SCIFs), state-of-the-art communications systems and video conferencing within an emergency planning center. Executive offices feature high-end finishes.
Austin AECOM personnel were co-located on site with GSA, acting as the owner’s representative responsible for design review and construction management services, including inspection, monitoring and potential claims mitigation.
Design review services included review for compliance with the solicitation for offers to meet schedule, budget, scope and quality; review of designs, schedules and estimates for appropriateness, contract compliance; and industry standard practices; recommendations for changes in the project scope to enhance the project. |
